Life, Liberty and the Puruse of Crapiness

Friday, February 13, 2004

I miss the days when friends dropped by unannounced. Hanging out replaced playing and then calendars and Palms and laptops took over. While there’s a lot about adulthood that’s worthwhile there’s enough of youth and adolescence to miss. “Youth is wasted on the young.” – George Bernard Shaw. I think. But I’m not going to look it up now.

It’s amazing what I can consider a full day. A trip to the doctor’s office. A prescription filled. Cooking dinner. I guess too, I worked on getting my room cleaned up. It seems like it’s a never-ending project. I just got a new computer along with a bunch of other stuff: a digital camera (Canon sd-10 – pretty dope too, the smallest 4-megapixel made, yippee!), an iPod, iPod accessories, and other miscellany. It’s kind of exciting but it’s been consuming a lot of my time and energy. And it’s made a mess of my room.

Obviously, tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. I’ve got no girlfriend and no date. It’s actually fine. Lately, though, I’ve been missing S. We broke up last year and I thought that was it. But maybe it’s not. It’s confusing. I know she’s a catch. Wonderful in a million ways. But we couldn’t make it work. It just got to that point where it was beyond fixing. So much of it had to do with me too. I wish it weren’t so.

Ok, time for a snack.

I'm new to this. I've never even really read someone else's blog either. A friend of mine was telling me he started one recently to hone his writing skills. He's a real writer, as in bylines and articles and interviews. I'm a fake writer, as in journals and letters and emails. And now this.

I guess I should introduce myself, though frankly I'm not sure how much I want to reveal. I'm a thirthysomething white hindu guy in law school. Maybe that's enough for now. Naturally, you'll learn more as I write.

This week I've done almost nothing. Depression has hit me hard and I'm sitting here at the university (and not the law school) library. This is really the first time out of my house (read = small but nice one bedroom apartment) since Monday when I went to my classes. My mood is better and I planned to go to class this morning at 9:30, but by the time I got to the library to check my email I had sorta convinced myself I wasn't going. I'm now skipping my Wills & Estates class, but I'll make it to Mediation later. I like that one and it usually doesn't require too much of me. Also, I look cute today and I've gotta show off my good outfit somewhere. Not that's it's spectacular, I just like it. Hmm…kind of twill, textured pair of khakis, an orange Penguin polo shirt w/ white trim on the collar and sleeves. Underneath that I have on a white long sleeve T. I'm wearing a beat up pair of blue Vans with two-tone socks that are mostly white with black heels and toes.

I've yet to eat today 'cos I wanted to get out of the house. So now it's afternoon and my belly has had only 1 pack of Emergen-C. I've gotta get home and get some eats!
